Welcome!
APICS Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science Conference will be hosted by Saint Mary's University
October 15, 16, 17, 2010
The Atlantic Provinces Council on the Sciences (APICS) is a non-profit, volunteer organization composed of universities, colleges, government labs and other institutions in Atlantic Canada. Its goal is the advancement of science and technology through education and public awareness and the promotion of scientific literacy, education and research throughout the region. The Annual APICS Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science Meeting is a major event taking place each year at one of the Universities in Atlantic Canada. This year it is being hosted by Saint Mary’s University. A unique feature of this meeting is that it specifically encourages participation by undergraduate students: the Friday of the conference hosts two competitions, one in Mathematics and the other in Computer Science. The morning and afternoon of Saturday features undergraduate research talks in Mathematics, Statistics and Computing. This day also includes talks by graduate students and faculty. This year the meeting also coincides with an AARMS Special Session on Graph Theory on Sunday, October 17th. Plenary talks: Blunden Memorial Lecture: Dr. Peter A. Forsyth, University of Waterloo, Field Lecture in Statistics: Dr. Jeffrey S. Rosenthal, University of Toronto Computer Science Lecture: Dr. Karan Singh, University of Toronto
