Open studies
Students interested in taking at least one course at Saint Mary's but not intending to complete a program may apply under the Open Studies category. There is a limit to the number of courses an Open Studies student can take. Those who want to take courses beyond the thirty credit hours (ten courses) will be required to apply to a program and be formally admitted to the program.
All applicants must submit a Letter of Intent. This letter should address:
- Personal Introduction and Academic Background
- Why I Am Interested in This Program/ Course
- Why I Am Choosing This University
- Relevant school, work and volunteer experience, as well as skills
- Future Academic and Career Goals
- Closing Statement

Possession of the minimum requirements does not establish the right of an applicant to be admitted or readmitted to the University. The University reserves the right to accept or reject any applicant.
