Department Awards
The Fred and Nali George Scholarship in Geology/Business Studies $6700
This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time student enrolled at Saint Mary’s University, who has a major or honours in Geology, and who has completed a minimum of 45 credit hours, but not more than 96 credit hours (approximately 3rd or 4th year). Preference will be given to students who are enrolled in the BSc combined Geology and Business program. Preference will also be given to students who demonstrate financial need. The goal is to provide at least one Award valued at $5,000 annually. The value and/or number of Awards may change from year to year.
This award is non-renewable, although an individual may be selected to receive the award more than once.

Award recipient selection will be determined by the Saint Mary’s University Financial Aid & Awards Office in consultation with the Dean of Science.
The Mining Society of Nova Scotia Centennial Award
Donor: The Mining Society of Nova Scotia
Originally established in celebration of its centenary (1887-1987), The Mining Society of Nova Scotia Centennial Award recognizes outstanding academic achievement of an undergraduate student graduating from the Geology Program. This convocation award is available to students graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Geology.
Gordon Fader Award
Awarded by the Department to the graduating student who has contributed most to the Department during their years at Saint Mary's. (Named after the first graduate of the Department of Geology in 1969).
Academic Excellence Award
Awarded by the Department to the graduating student who has achieved academic excellence in Geology. This award applies to the student's initial graduation and shall not be awarded to the same student more than once.
Qadeer Siddiqui Award
Awarded to the graduating student who excels in soft-rock courses.
Mark Deptuck Award
Awarded by the Department to a student who has completed the second year of a program majoring in Geology whose academic performance is of honors caliber, and who has been an active participant in student activities. -Geena Morse was top in both my mineralogy courses.
Bob Grantham Award
Awarded by the Geology Club to the first-year Geology Club member who has contributed most to club activities during the year. (Named after the first President of the Geology Club in 1968).
Hardrock Athlete of the Year
Awarded by the Geology Club to the student who has contributed the most to sports events of the Geology Club.
WA Bell
Awarded by the Geology Club to the person, other than a member of the Executive, who has contributed the most to club activities during the year.
