International Opportunities
Global Business Experience
Take your learning beyond the classroom and into a real international setting. You’ll benefit from an intercultural immersion experience through the SMBA 6500 course, where you have the opportunity to work on a consulting project with an international business.
This experience gives you the chance to travel, explore a new market, and see how businesses actually operate in a different part of the world. In the past, MBA Students have travelled to Ireland, Germany, Madrid and other destinations.

In July, 2025, a group of part and full time MBA students travelled to Mexico to study business in an intercultural setting.
Bob Shaw Case Competition
One Case. One Strategy. One Winning Team.
The Bob Shaw Case Competition is an annual experiential learning event at the Sobey School of Business where graduate students step into the role of strategic advisors to solve a real-world business challenge.
The Challenge
The competition pushes students to move beyond theory and into real decision-making. Working in teams, students analyze a complex case, develop a clear strategy, and present their recommendations to a panel of experienced business leaders made up of industry leaders, alumni, and faculty.
Judges
Each year, the competition brings together leaders from across the business community to evaluate student presentations and provide feedback. Judges represent a range of industries including consulting, finance, technology, entrepreneurship, and public leadership.
Why Students Love It
The competition provides students with the opportunity to apply classroom learning to real business challenges and test their thinking under pressure. For many students, it becomes one of the most memorable moments of their graduate experience.
“Getting to design a solution and pitch it was such valuable experience, and I will continue to seek out more opportunities like this going forward.”
